K-3 Student Requirements: Students in grades K-3 will hand write or type two benchmark essays each semester using blind prompts currently posted on the CWCS website using the same genres in the table. K-3 students can write a narrative essay in November and in March. A literary essay is not required in March.  

ESs will collect one essay per semester for the portfolios.
